Christmas 2017

This year, we decided to stay home for Christmas day and have our own big roast lunch and stay together - just the 6 of us. It was the best decision!

The kids woke up at 7am and came into our room, we stayed in our room for a bit (to wake up properly ourselves) and the kids were all lying in bed with us wondering what they may have waiting for them downstairs. I thought they would run like crazy downstairs as soon as their little bodies woke, but no. They wanted to tell us what they were hoping for and all go down to see together.

Once downstairs, all we heard was "wow", "awesome", "I got bubbles!!" - so cute. After present unwrapping, the boys of course wanted to get stuck into their Lego right away and Lexi was busy being Doc McStuffins while Noah cruised around playing with every other toy. I cleaned up the mess (standard, cant handle mess, even on Christmas Day) and then started on getting the roast lunch sorted, and Matt helped the boys if they needed it with the Lego.

I tried to keep my camera close by all day to capture a range of things we all did. There were so many smiles and heaps of laughter all day from the kids and us too.

I was worried for a little bit after we made the decision to stay home on Christmas Day. Was I robbing the kids of more fun? Was I robbing myself and Matt of enjoying a busier day with more people? But the day flew by. I sat down and downloaded the photos and went through them one by one (about 200 more than on this blog) and I smiled the whole time looking at them, I had happy tears the whole time.

I adore my 4 mini humans and my partner in crime and in life. This years Christmas Day was our best yet. I always want my kids to feel loved and be able to be themselves, and today - they felt that plus more.

Merry Christmas everyone - Carls x
